Toronto St Lawrence Market

A bit bored of uploading pictures from our Asia trip, and a bit sick of looking at pictures of us soaking up the heat when its so cold here! (I say cold, this is apparently one of the mildest December’s Toronto has had on record).

I will instead give a quick photo blog of our trip into Toronto this past weekend. My Mom, Kieran and myself drove to Finch station, and got on the subway to Union Station, which is right on Front Street, on Lake Ontario.

We saw the CN tower..from a distance. We then walked to St Lawrence market, only a few blocks away. Walking through the glass doors is like walking into another world of sights, smells and sounds. It reminded me of Ben Thanh market in Ho Chi Minh City, but obviously more upmarket, and the people didn’t call me ‘madam.’There were stalls selling fish, cheese, bread, vegetables, fruit, knick knacks and more. This was my favourite stall, this man making spinach pasta with ricotta cheese filling from scratch. To get in the Christmas spirit they were also making tree shaped pasta and colour coordinated sauces. One of the best things about the market is that there are so many ‘sample’ stalls, so we tried pasta, cheese, mustard, the list goes on. The fish markets were pretty extravagant too, with live lobsters and whole crab legs.

We actually bought this cheese, its a blue brie, but it has already been eaten, so we’ll have to go back and get more! In conclusion – St Lawrence Market = awesome. Get off your bums and go there. Now.
